Working with us presents an exciting opportunity to be a part of creating the organization at the foundational level. Work is pro bono in these early stages of program development and fundraising, but can lead to a future paid position with the organization and ongoing opportunities within the Organization.

As part of the core Adventure Midwives team you will have an opportunity to contribute your ideas, passion and expertise and grow with us in a leadership role.

Fundraising Director

Pro Bono Position

The fundraising director will be responsible for creating a fundraising plan detailing strategies for raising funds in the coming months and years in order to support the organization in its mission and general operating costs. These strategies may include, but are not limited to: securing donors, acquiring grants, fundraising events, sponsorship, and partnerships with other organizations and businesses.

Tasks include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan for obtaining funds through multiple fundraising streams.
  • Researching, contacting and building professional and friendly relationships with donors in order to gain donations.
  • Researching foundations and grant opportunities, and overseeing the grant writing process.
  • Overseeing fundraising events, including marketing and event management.
  • Writing proposals to businesses and organizations and building relationships to obtain sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Analyzing metrics in order to provide detailed reporting on fundraising results to the organization’s Directors/Board.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in nonprofit with proven results.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • High level of communication skills and professionalism.
  • Leadership and management skills.
    Fluent in English.

Midwifery Program Developer and Researcher

Pro Bono Position

The researcher/program developer will be responsible for creating the vision for our midwifery initiatives programs and developing and implementing these programs in collaboration with the unique communities that we work with.

Tasks include:

  • Researching and gaining understanding into issues currently faced in areas where we will be working with regards to pregnancy, birth, postpartum and midwifery care.
  • Researching and gaining understanding of successful midwifery programs that work collaboratively with indigenous communities.
  • Brainstorming and envisioning programs that directly impact the health outcome of mothers and babies and support the continuation of midwifery knowledge and roles.
  • Initiating and building relationships and partnerships with other organizations and the larger midwifery community
  • Finding and overseeing the development of resources that will support our programs
  • Developing strategic plans and goals for the midwifery programs
    Oversee and produce annual reporting for the midwifery programs
  • Communicating with advisory panel to seek their experience, knowledge and input into program development
  • Create and develop questionnaires and research questions that will be used by midwives on the expeditions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Adventurous Midwives team, expedition midwives and local midwives

Requirements:

  • Completed training as a Midwife.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a midwife.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in an area of program development.
  • Comprehensive analysis and research skills.
  • High level of communication and leadership skills.

Internship Opportunities For Students

We are committed to fostering an environment that supports learning, mentorship and cross-cultural collaboration. Beginning in 2021 we will offer internship places on expeditions for students.
